Cut by hand with a jigsaw · Hot Springs, Arkansas

Handcrafted Wooden Signs, Built by Hand, Not by Machine.

A small, hands-on shop in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Every piece is drawn by hand, cut line by line with a jigsaw, then sanded, painted and put together here. No CNC, no laser engraving, nothing mass produced.

Got something specific in mind? Send a photo of what you are wanting and I will build the design around it.

One thing to know: these signs are made for indoors, or an outdoor spot that stays fully covered. They are not finished to sit out in the weather.

Why Martin's Woodwork

Drawn, cut and finished by hand, one piece at a time.

Designs get drawn by hand, transferred onto real wood, cut with a jigsaw and bandsaw, then sanded, painted and put together at the same bench. Here is what that means for your piece.

  • Drawn by hand before anything gets cut

Your design starts as a pencil drawing, then gets transferred onto the wood. You see the layout and okay it first, so you know what you are getting.

  • Cut with a jigsaw and bandsaw

I follow every line and letter by hand. That is why the edges look cut instead of stamped out.

  • Built for you, not pulled off a shelf

Your name, your team, your colors, your size. Each piece is drawn, cut, sanded, painted and put together on its own, so no two are identical.

  • Real wood, sanded and finished by hand

Birch ply, pine and cedar, sanded through the grits and painted or stained by brush. Made for indoor or fully covered spots.

Orders get built in the order they come in. Pick a category or send your idea and I will draw it up.

A WayBack sign, sent as a gift for Ryan Sickler's studio

I cut a WayBack sign for comedian Ryan Sickler and sent it to his studio as a gift. He hung it up and shared it with his followers.

"This is fire! Thank you @martins_woodwork! It's a great addition to the studio."

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is any of this made with a CNC or laser engraver?
No. Every design is drawn by hand, transferred onto the wood, then cut out with a jigsaw and bandsaw. Sanding, painting, staining and assembly are all done by hand in my shop in Arkansas.
How long does an order take?
Everything is built to order, so your piece does not exist until you order it. Build time depends on the size, the number of layers and how many orders are ahead of yours. Once your order comes in I will give you a realistic window and send photos as it goes.
How do custom orders work?
Send me your idea and a photo of what you have in mind. A reference picture is the fastest way to get it right. I will come back with questions, a layout and a price. Nothing gets cut until you say go. A 50% deposit starts the build and the rest is due before it ships.
What wood do you use?
Mostly birch ply and solid pine for layered painted signs, and pine and birch for toy boxes. Cedar if a piece needs to handle a covered outdoor spot. I will tell you what yours is built from.
